Why Eat Healthy? Here's Why I Do...
I have very few people nowadays ask the question "why eat healthy?" I think the
benefits
speak for themselves. But why do I feel so passionate about it? I think I've said it before, but I wholeheartedly believe that what we put into, and how we treat our bodies, is a reflection of how we interact with the world. It makes sense that if we care and pay attention to how food is raised, prepared and eaten, then we are more likely to care and pay attention to the environment from which it comes. I think it comes down to respect. I'm not trying to be preachy or suggest that we should all act high and mighty. Just that if, as consumers, we demand an ethical, responsibly raised product, then that's what we'll see more of in the world. This applies to everything from fair-trade coffee to free-range birds, to locally-grown apples. I don't think it's helpful to stress about getting 100% perfect product all the time - sometimes it's just not available or affordable. But I do think it's important to show respect for where food comes from. We are living in times when we're blessed with so much abundance. It's also a time when this world, the planet, and its beings, are all in need of some respect.
If that's not enough, here's a list of healthy eating benefits
