Inspiring Exercise Stories

This is my "inspiring" story about how healthy exercise helped me change my life for the better:

I used to despise going to the gym. I would go at night and use ANY excuse in the book not to go: it's raining or snowing; people are going out; I'm tired... You name it, I used it and was lucky if I went 2-3 times a week. And I was overweight and out-of-shape, so I needed to be going.

And then, an annoying situation turned out to be a blessing in disguise (as they tend to be). My new boss changed my schedule so I was coming in later every day. What to do!? My now-husband was waking up at 6 a.m. and I didn't want to be on different schedules or sit around all morning with nothing to do...

He suggested going to the gym in the mornings. And I, of course, came up with excuses: I don't want to carry all the clothes & shower stuff; I'm going to hate it; it's not for me. He convinced me to try it for 2 weeks and well, I fell in love - with going to the gym in the mornings! (And with him.)

I get my workouts out of the way and get a burst of energy in the mornings. I go to the gym 4-5 times a week now and am thinner and healthier than I've felt in a long time. Now, if I miss a day, I feel bad!! And I've made friends at the gym, so when I skip a day - I hear it from them and I miss them!

Yes, carrying all that stuff (makeup, sneakers, gym clothes, work clothes, etc.) is a pain, but I started leaving my shower stuff at the gym, so that alleviates a bit. But I look at the stuff I DO carry as just a bonus workout!

I look at this experience a number of ways: 1) it was a not-great situation turned great; 2) it shows that there's always a way to fit in a workout and; 3) it proved to me just how good it can feel to go to the gym and/or workout.
