Healthy Living - It's More Than Just Food

We all know there's more to healthy living than just what we eat. When I was in nutrition school, we talked a lot about what my teacher named "Primary Foods," which is everything that feeds us that we don't get on a plate.That's what this section is all about - those things in life that feel nurturing and "nutritious," that we don't actually eat! This could be a lovely backrub, a good hearty walk, or a cozy chat with friends. For me, since I had my daughter, a main primary food is a good night's sleep!! Have you ever been tired, or lonely, or bored, and eaten just to fill the void? If you have you're not alone! I read somewhere that estimates 68% of Americans (I imagine the figures are similar for Britain) eat for reasons other than hunger! Yes, this means emotional eating. Amazing, huh? And I'll bet most of these people aren't snacking on carrots during these times! If this kind of eating is an issue for you, then you've come to the right page. I'd love for this page to be a platform for emotional eaters to better understand their patterns, and to help yourselves and each other to shift to healthier behaviors.

I find that the inspiring stories of others, particularly those in which people have transformed their lives and manifested their dreams, is a huge motivation for me to do the same.
